STILL ON THE GAZA CONFLICT

First and foremost, my prayers and sympathy go to the family of the people both young and old who had lost their lives so far in the latest rounds of hostilities in Gaza. I share in their pains and grieves, but again let's come to the reality, deaths like these had and will always be the reality of war. In a war situation, soldiers are always the currency, and humans and property are the objects of trade subjected to (wilful) destruction.

At best we can say, we are better-off without wars and conflicts of such magnitude, but is that absolute state of peace possible in the world? Conflicts and wars have been a part of the human history and it's been dated as far back as the early existence of man. This does not mean, we can not reduce such conflicts to the barest minimum. Hence, all hands must be on deck to ensure peace thrives in the world.

I am not attempting to justify Israel's latest offensive and strikes on Gaza, but i must confess i am enormously appalled and disgusted at the one-sided criticism that had trailed Israel's latest activities in Gaza; a conspicuous effort by Israel to protect her citizens, an action which any other Nation including the most vociferous Critics of Israel would have spontaneously taken if three of their citizens had been gruesomely murdered, the way the three Israeli's teens were murdered on Gaza's soil under the control of Hamas.

I am very sure Israel would be significantly amazed at the magnitude of the well-coordinated Media criticisms that had followed suit, since Israel first struck Gaza about 9-days ago. The level of bias and sentiments already exhibited against the Israeli' State is particularly interesting to me, how perfectly the Media had also shifted the world attention away from the root cause of this latest round of hostility is more interesting. What the Media is saying indirectly is - It is ok to kill Israeli Teenagers and it is bad for Israel to launch Military Offensive in other to protect her citizens from such gruesome killings in the future.

I understand the sentiments and cynicisms of many against Israel, some feel Israel had always been over-protected and Israel have committed a lot of heinous crimes in the past against the Palestinians, i think i also agree on the latter, that Israel to some extents have been largely indiscipline and irresponsible in her relationship with Palestine all along, a factor which is also fueling the embers of this present crisis, but one thing i will fail to agree on, is to visit these so-called Israel's past misdeeds on the country's present actions which is quite imperative in other to protect the people of Israel.

The Media continues to play a major and very detrimental role in the on-going conflict, Hamas positioned themselves comfortable in Gaza and they shoot hundreds of Rockets from behind civilians shields to Israel, and the emphasis had not been on Hamas to also stop firing these rockets at Israel. What if Israel does not have an Air-defense System which protects the country largely from Missiles and rockets, how many Israelis,  children and women inclusive would have been killed by the numerous rockets coming from Hamas and some coming from Lebanon too? I think the Media should be fair to the two warring sides, and avoid any form of sentiment which at the end of the day will continue to fuel the rage.

It is also very interesting to see the well-coordinated Media conspiracy in this conflict as it is pretty obvious the way the Media remains perpetually silent on the cease-fire deal facilitated by Egypt which Israel accepted but unfortunately, was rejected by Hamas. That deal could have been the turning point in this conflict but Hamas decided to act otherwise, Israel did eventually halt the offensive against Gaza for about 6-hours, but Hamas ignored this and continued to fire on Israel during this period. How do we juxtapose this and how come Hamas allies did not prevail on the group to respect the cease-fire, if Hamas truly desire peace so much and are interested to bring the killings in Gaza to an end.

I can only pity the people especially tens of children who had unfortunately lost their lives since this conflict erupted, but like i pointed out earlier in this piece, one of the terrible and unfortunate realities of war is, humans remain the primary victims, when there is a conflict of such magnitude and the Fighter Jets begin to strike, everybody becomes susceptible, the next death could be a child, a woman, a pregnant woman, the elderly and also the physically-challenged, no one is immune against the gunfire and blasts. That is why we are better off without such conflicts and wars.

I will at this point also call on Israel to be more discipline and precise in their offensive, no convention anywhere in the world will give moral credence and justifications to Military Air-strike on hospitals and especially a Medical Facility where physically handicapped and mentally challenged children are housed and taken care of, i hope the Israeli Government will speed up investigation into this particular Strike as they promised and put modalities in place, including checks and balances which will guard against such strikes, targeting harmless children in their future operations.

All said and done, i personally think the immediate solution to this conflict largely depends on Hamas, Israel persistently and consistently insists that the attacks would stop when Hamas stops the attack on it's territory, something Hamas continue to blatantly ignore and now that the Cease-fire deal brought to the table by Egypt, one which the whole world look up to as the first step to attaining peace again in this conflict zone had failed, due to Hamas rejection. One can say, at the moment, there may be no end in sight and more killings and destructions of property may be witnessed. I hope some foundation for peace will be laid following the UN brokered 5-hours Cease-fire deal agreed to, by both parties to allow Humanitarian aids into Gaza today.
